Who loves make up and skin care and doesn’t love a good Sephora sale? Today I am sharing with you my tried-and-true favorite Sephora items for the Sephora Sale 2023. Most of these items I have used and repurchased several times.
Sephora is my go-to place for all skincare and make up products. I always test things out in store, then I purchase the product and give it a go. So many new products are launched, but I have my go to products that I continue to use year after year. I have been a VIB rouge for several years now. I am here to tell you the products I recommend for the Sephora Sale 2023.
This post is all about what to buy during the Sephora Sale 2023. It is your essential shopping guide!
When should I shop at Sephora?
The more addicted you are to Sephora the more they compensate you with a higher discount (true story). Sephora has three tiers, the VIB rouge sale which offers a 20% discount started 10/27/23 and ended on 11/6/23, the VIB members get a 15% offer from 10/31-11/6/23 and finally all Beauty Insiders get a 10% discount from 10/31/23-11/6/23. All tiers get a 30% discount on the Sephora Collection from 10/27/23 to 11/6/23.
We love a good discount, because we love to save money (really popular opinion). If you are a VIB rouge, the 20% discount can make a huge difference on all your skin care and make up expenses. But so can the 15 and 10% discounts. But more importantly we want to be prepared for this sale. We want to buy what we need, some treats, some holiday gift sets and some gifts along the way for the upcoming holiday season.
Preparation & Advice
Sephora sales can help save a lot of money but they are also overwhelming. You can end up spending way more money if you do not prepare.
- You need to make the majority of your shopping, if not all, during the bi-annual sale periods (April and November). The November sale is a lot better in my opinion as it includes Holiday gifts sets, they are a great deal at full price plus add to that the Sephora discount and they are a steal.
- Weeks or months leading up to the sale is your opportunity to go to the Sephora store and play with the make-up that’s new or whatever is on your radar. Figure out your shades in make-up products, test things out. The reason I say this is to first, limit waste. I know many people purchase 3 shades of the same product in order to keep one. Another reason is that the stores are very overwhelming during the sales, while it may be nice to go, you don’t want to be testing new things out on that first day of sale and waste your time. You want to make your purchases asap. Testers will be all over the place, most of them empty. Best to go and figure it out when it’s not as busy. Lastly, products do sell out early in the sale period, this will make you want to buy everything you could possibly need and spend more money. So, in order to fight that urge, prepare your list.
Strategy: I prepare by marking everything I’ve been wanting to try out for months leading to the sale under my ‘loves’ list on the app, I then test them out and whatever I want to purchase gets moved to my basket. Those that I do not like, I remove from my loves list. - Once I get the notification from Sephora that the sale is going to start on a set date. I prepare my basket with all the things I intend to buy for the sale. Stock up on basics (hello mascara); holiday gift sets and high price tag items. Those sell out quite quickly. This year, the number of shoppers was so high, their website crashed. So be prepared, ideally past midnight on the first day of your sale period, all you have to do is add your code and place your order! Et Voilà!
What to buy
Take this with a grain of salt. Everyone has different hair and skin types; and make up preferences. I like to invest in good quality products. Once something works, I stick to it. Regarding skin care, I do think there is so much more that goes into skin care than just products like nutrition, hydration, exercise, facials, etc. So be wise with your money. Your list may look entirely different from mine. I love to share my purchases with my friends and see what they’re buying. So here it goes!
Hair products
Farewell Frizz™ Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Cream by Briogeo
I have used this for more than 5 years now. Before I style my hair I apply a generous amount and let it sit for a minute. Once I am done styling my hair, I occasionally go back in and apply a small amount to the roots.
Wave spray by Ouai
I have gone through many bottles of this product. It really holds my waves and curls for several days after I style my hair. The scent is amazing too. Ouai products really do work.
No Frizz Shampoo by Living Proof
I use this occasionally, maybe 2-3 times a month, it keeps my frizz under check.
Skincare
Pore-Balance™ Facial Sauna Scrub by OLEHENRIKSEN
I love this product, I keep repurchasing. Gives a warm and cooling effect. The texture difference on my skin is very noticeable.
Vinopure Natural Salicylic Acid Pore Minimizing Toner by Caudalie
I have gone through several bottles of this product. I’ve been using it for at least 3 years now. It smells really fresh and the price point is great.
Double Serum Firming & Smoothing Anti-Aging Concentrate by Clarins
The price point is high, and it does have a chemical smell, which put me off the first time I used it. But I have been using this product for two years now and I see the results.
Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Intense Wrinkle Cream by Dr Dennis Gross
This is a great cream, rather thick. Keeps me moisturized during the winter season but also anti-aging.
C-Rush™ Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer by OLEHENRIKSEN
Most of the time I mix this with the Dennis Gross cream. I sometimes skip it altogether. But when I do use it, I see the effects of brightening.
Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment by Murad
Great spot acne treatment. After using this product, within a few hours my acnes looks less red, and gone in a few days.
The True Cream – Aqua Bomb Sunscreen 2-in-1 SPF 50 and Moisturizer by Belif
I have gone through bottles and bottles of this. It has a lemon scent, which I always find so refreshing when I apply it in the morning. It is a moisturizer and spf, what more do we need?
Deepwater Nourishing Lip Mask with Sea Moss and Aloe Stem Cells by Cay Skin
Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator by Fresh
These are absolute two non-negotiables. The lip mask is an excellent product, non-sticky, vanilla and coconut scented. I use it several times a day in winter and it lasts me a long time. I really have no idea why this product isn’t as popular as LANEIGE. The lip scrub, I use on a weekly basis, I love the scent of sweet sugar and lemon.
Makeup
COMPLEXION RESCUE® Tinted Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Mineral SPF 30 by BareMinerals
I do not use foundation. This is an excellent product if you want to skip foundation, it also has spf 30. It applies easy and gives you nice glow. It makes your skin look great in photos too. If I really had to wear foundation, it would probably be Giorgio Armani’s.
Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer by Rare Beauty
I have been using this product since it came out. It doesn’t cake, it’s very light, moisturizing and provides great coverage. Checks all my boxes.
Translucent Pressed Setting Powder by Laura Mercier
One of my all-time favorite products. I have been using for a long time. I started with the loose powder, which I found messy. I switched to this pressed version and love it. I apply this over my concealer to set it.
Long Lasting Eyeliner High Precision Brush by Sephora
I have tried using other brands or felt tips, it doesn’t work for me. I love this eyeliner so much. The price point is crazy. It is so easy to apply once you get used to the brush.
Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara by Dior
I have gone through several of these. I love the brush so much. It is the best mascara out there in my opinion.
Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer by Gucci
One of the best bronzers out there. I did purchase it for the packaging but I was pleasantly surprised. It has a lovely and blendable finish. I love the color selection they offer.
The Multiple Cream Blush, Lip and Eye Stick by NARS
I love having more compact and stick products when I can. It makes travelling with them so much easier. This one leaves a lovely pink and gold shimmer on your cheeks, eyes and lips if you want to. Very sun kissed look.
24-HR Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel with Lamination Effect by Benefit Consmetics
Holds your brows in place. No joke. I try other products all the time but keep coming back to this.
DIPBROW® Waterproof, Smudge Proof Brow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills
So many great brow fillers have been on the market for years. I love having full control and using this product with a brush. The color selection is also better than a lot of other products on the market, and it will last you a long time.
Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer by Fenty
I don’t wear a lot of lip products, but this is my favorite. It doesn’t feel sticky, and lasts a long time. I love the shade FU$$Y.
Travel size products
This can range from tools, hair products to make up and perfume. This is important for me so I can travel light.
Perfumes
This is an incredibly personal choice, it is tough to recommend. But I recently picked up the No.04 Bois de Balincourt Eau de Parfum by Maison Louis Maris and I love it.
This was everything I purchased during the Sephora Sale 2023. I hope my recommendations and purchase list helps you on your next purchase!
