Are you thinking about buying more second-hand clothes this year? or considering thrift shopping for a change? You’ve landed on the right page. I am here to talk all things about thrift stores in Williamsburg.
Well, guess who’s been going to Williamsburg on the regular. Not quite. But I can recommend you the best bookstores, thrift stores and name at least five places you can grab a bite. I’d say Williamsburg and I are getting along just fine.
Thrift shopping has taken a dark turn. While it used to mean finding high quality vintage pieces, the present state is just a reflection of the current fast fashion environment we live in – the brands, the trends and the quality (or lack thereof). But some of us are still on the hunt for a quality piece, so here we are. Thrift stores in Williamsburg, what about them?
This post is about all the Thrift Stores in Williamsburg that I visited. I hope it serves as a guide for you!
#1 Kalimera
A selection of clothes, sourced from Italy. Vintage, a little old, gives me Y2K vibes. Clothing was mostly in smaller sizes (XS-S). There were some vintage croc belts that were interesting. The prices aren’t necessarily high, but the products seem a little old and perhaps not worth the price tag. But I leave it to their customers to decide. Fitting rooms available.
#2 L Train Vintage
A wide range of products and brands. You could find a vintage Levi’s, an L.L. Bean sweater or a BCBG blazer here for a very affordable price. The only thing is you have to look through quite a lot to find something. Thankfully, items are divided into categories. This branch felt more geared towards men. Items are all pretty clean. Fitting rooms available.
#3 Vaux Vintage
What a curated selection of clothes in a lovely boutique store. If you didn’t know it was a thrift store, you wouldn’t guess it was by the looks of it. Smells great too. Everything I touched was high quality. They had interesting accessories like gloves, bags and vests. Definitely a place to have on your radar. Fitting rooms available.
#4 Stella Dallas Living
Wow. What a ginormous store full of high quality, vintage brand name items. The store is divided into many categories, from wool skirts and pants, silk scarves, to shoes and then home items. That muted-red Hermes trench coat, that I saw not too long ago, will hunt me for as long as I live. Fitting rooms available.
#5 10 ft single by Stella Dallas
A very big selection of clothes, with a strong Americana vibe, if that’s what you’re into. You need time to dig in and find things, though I have to say that the items are well divided into categories.
I know some people have walked away with authentic brand name pieces from here, but that’s a rarity and certainly not the majority of what they carry. The men’s section seemed much more interesting, with higher quality pieces than the women’s. Overall, a little overpriced, but still worth the visit. Fitting rooms available.
#6 Buffalo Exchange
Unfortunately, Buffalo Exchange is now majority fast fashion items from H&M, 21 forever and Zara. Really not what I was looking for. There are some interesting pieces perhaps in the different sections, but you need a lot of time to go through things to find a quality gem. Fitting rooms available.
#7 Monk Vintage
I’ve been to this store on several occasions, it is mostly fast fashion with few if any vintage pieces. I’ve looked at several items, which had stains on them, so make sure to quality check before you make a purchase. It is always busy and they have a decent client base it seems; I just can’t seem to find any gems when I visit. Fitting rooms available.
#8 Wonders of Walter
Interesting outdoors open garage style thrift store. I’ve walked by this place several times, depending on your luck you might come across real vintage gems. The owner shops and curates the selection he sells. They are well known for some vintage style coats. So don’t let outdoorsy garage style store fool you. The owner knows his stuff.
#9 Crossroads Trading
Huge store, easy to walk around and navigate. Clothes are divided into different sections based on category. Quite heavy on fast fashion. Fitting rooms available.
#10 Chickfee’s Vintage
My favorite vintage store. This was a new find for me. Great selection of Armani, The Row, Levi’s, amongst other brands. Just all the ‘it brands’ and quiet luxury style, which is always in style but also hot at the moment. I loved the selection of jewelry and accessories, not to mention the store’s décor. I will be back for sure. Fitting rooms available.
#11 Regeneration
Artsy flea market. Didn’t see many vintage pieces and prices were quite high for the items I was checking. Maybe I need a re-visit to get a better feel. Fitting rooms available.
#12 Malin Landeus
A very interested selection of imported high quality, vintage pieces from boots to clothes. I was thoroughly impressed. Clothes did seem to run a little small in sizes (though that could have been just my luck during my visit). The unique boots they carry are all second hand – Freelance, a French brand. Fitting rooms available.
#13 Bedford Vintage
A cozy store on the second floor, with a very welcoming staff. It is relatively a small space with a selection of second hand items, large selection of t-shirts, denim,…etc. It is said to be curated by two women. I do not remember if they have fitting rooms, please let me know in the comments if they do!
#14 Awoke Vintage
A selection of good quality second hand items, with not so popular brands. Fabrics seemed to be good quality. I bought a knit sweater from this store several years ago that was made in Peru, 100% wool. Everything seems to have been washed and cleaned. Good selection of denim and jewelry. Fitting rooms available.
#15 Amarcord Vintage
A selection of high-quality items, these range from big luxury fashion house items to non-designer ones. Priced reasonably well. Owner was very nice and spent some time with all the customers talking about how he curates his selection. He is very willing to show his stock with zero pressure to make you buy anything. I will be back. Fitting rooms available.
