Are you trying to figure out what transitional pieces for 2024 you need to buy? It’s such an important gap to fill in the closet as the seasons change, but also a tough list to finalize. You’ve come to the right place. I’m here to share with you what transitional pieces for 2024 I want to invest in this season.
Spring is around the corner. It is going to be here in less than a month. I couldn’t be more excited. With that I start to think more about my transitional pieces especially for the time when winter has not made its exit and full-on spring isn’t here yet.
Creating a buy list for transitional pieces isn’t easy. We are all extremely influenced in this day and age through bloggers we follow, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and many more social media platforms. There will always be items that we just love and want to have, no matter the redundancy created in our closet (I admit). But it’s important to do the work and identify what you really need and want, then prioritize those over things you see.
I make every effort to stick to my list as much as I can. It has helped me talk myself out of things I was thinking about buying, because it ‘wasn’t on the list’. So back to my list of transitional pieces I plan on buying in 2024.
This post is all about the transitional pieces for 2024 I plan on buying. I hope this helps you figure out your list for this time of the year.
TRANSITIONAL COAT
Two things are important to me. High-quality material and no belt (preferably).
I have a confession to make, I really don’t like belts in general but also not on coats. Now I know they have a purpose when it’s cold. But if I can get away with it, especially for a transitional piece, I will.
I saw a few coats this season that really caught my eye. Of course, The Row had a beautiful cashmere piece called the Priske Coat in Cashmere, I tried the Fern Green color in store and I was blown away by the material, cut and the color to my surprise. But I wasn’t able to casually drop $8,900 on a coat (or anything for that matter).
I am really not sure how the Toteme Signature Wool Cashmere Coat came back on my radar. I don’t think I was a big fan of the large lapels the first time I saw it, but something clicked when I tried it on. If your style leans more minimal and classic, the neck of this coat will add a softness and flow to your look. The material feels quite luxurious and the side slits add a je ne sais quoi. I sized down for it.
I’m also drawn into leather coats at the moment. Simple neck and style, just all leather. Massimo Dutti does great real leather pieces for a reasonable price point. I’ve talked about them before on my blog. This Long Straight Fit Nappa Leather Coat is made with 100% sheep leather. It is knee length perfect as a seasonal item. It gives me such strong 90’s vibes, Gwyneth Paltrow dating Brad Pitt era, and I’m here for it. I would style this with black denim, white t-shirt and black sunglasses.
BOTTOM
I’ve been on the lookout for some high-quality denim. The type that you can wear for years. I like to have a variety of color and styles. But one thing will remain constant is the high waist (at least for now). I saw the Toteme Barrel Leg Denim Black Jeans and I really liked the look of it. I tried it on, and I have to say it is the so thick, and has no elasticity to it. It is exactly what I was looking for. The barrel cut is very stylish yet chic. What isn’t chic at Toteme, really?
Another great transitional & also leather piece from Massimo Dutti is this Black Nappa Leather Midi Leather Skirt with Slit in the front. It looks so chic but also cool at the same time because of the slit and height. Cooler than Meghan Markle’s Boss green leather skirt, anyone else remember that piece?
Toteme Signature Wool Cashmere Coat, Massimo Dutti Nappa Leather Coat, Everlane Merino Ribbed Polo, Toteme Wool Cashmere Turtleneck, Toteme Barrel Leg Jeans, Massimo Dutti Leather Skirt. All Black, very New York!
TOP
I am loving several chunky sweaters from The Row, Toteme and Old Céline. The latter is going to be hard to get my hands on. Pre-loved Phoebe Philo era Céline ready to wear is currently selling for high prices, sometimes higher that retail.
Toteme has a Wool Cashmere Turtleneck in Black, it looks and feels so luxe. There is something very interesting about its shape as it’s narrow around the hips. I sized down for it. This one is on sale and probably won’t be around for too long.
The Everlane Ultra Fine Merino Ribbed Polo has been on my radar from a while. It’s long overdue. This would be particularly great to pair with the coat, all buttoned up.
BIG BAG
This is a tough category because there were many items that have caught my eye. One thing I know for sure, is that I need a top handle large bag that can be my catch all and travel bag.
First up is The Row Margaux bag 15. I love this bag. It was on my radar since the beginning of last year and now it’s become the IT bag. It sells out as soon as it’s stocked. The leather feels so luxurious and beautiful, but very easy to scratch. There are many combinations of leather, color and hardware. This is the year I get one (hopefully).
Next up is The Row Luxe bag, it looks so chic and minimal. I’m in love with this bag. It’s great that it comes with a cross body strap, but for some reason I don’t like the look of the strap, it feels like it doesn’t match the bag. I haven’t seen it in person, I am hoping to on their next restock.
Another similar style is the Khaite Medium Amelia Tote, in Nougat or Taupe. I like the folds in the corner, they give it the recognizable design. The metal feet are important to me for preserving my bags. This felt very luxe and light in store.
I also like The Row Domino Bag in Leather, which is giving me some Miu Miu vibes, and a bit of vintage déjà-vu. I still have to go and see it in person, the question is, will the straps rest over my shoulder?

LARGE SCARF
I am on the hunt to find a wide scarf that can cover my shoulders. I’ve seen some nice ones at A.P.C. and Toteme. I haven’t fully decided yet. For someone who doesn’t like prints or logos, I find Toteme’s logo to be very understated and it’s one of those IYKYK low key luxe. I like the A.P.C. Alix Brodée Scarf, the Monogram Jacquard Wool Scarf in Bone, and the Monogram Wool Cashmere Scarf in Tobacco.
EVERYDAY SANDALS & SHOES
While I want to wear comfortable sandals, I can walk about in the city with; sometimes I want them to look more elevated than say Birkenstocks. I am thinking about the Marni Fussbett Sandals again. I bought these a few years ago but they were not my right size, despite going at the advice of the sales associate.
Another option is the Chanel Dad Sandals. They are very comfortable it seems, and look pretty elevated.
These Toteme T-Strap flats just got added to my list. This is what happens when you visit the store more than you should. Things grow on you and get added to the list. It remind me of the Chanel slingback a bit as it is made out of silk. But it’s a shoe, which might make it wearable year-round. #GirlMath

MULES
I really want classic mules with a small heel. I’ve wanted the Manolo Blahnik Maysale for a while now, I think it’s time to get these in 2024. They come in a variety of colors in suede, with a few seasonal colors and materials. Of course, suede in the navy color is what I want.
Another one I spotted from long online searches on Toteme’s website is the Mule in Black. This square toe mule with an opening at the front. It has both classy and an architectural shape. I might have to order these to see how ‘easy’ it is to walk in them before I seal the deal.
BATHING SUIT
I was planning on buying a new bikini swimsuit this year. I am thinking about going very basic with J. Crew’s string bikini top and bottom. These are easy to tan in (priorities, am I right?). I have tried J. Crew’s swimsuits in the past and they are good quality, especially for the price. They also have an interesting selection of one-piece swimsuits, if that’s your cup of tea.
This post was all about the transitional pieces for 2024 I plan on purchasing. What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and reading.
See you next week,
