Are you considering buying the Gaia bag from Mansur Gavriel? I’m here to do a detailed review. Let’s chat.

I think this was one of my quickest purchases. Mansur Gavriel launched this bag, and within a month, it was in my closet. I really felt like I could use this bag quite a bit. The minimal style got me. In general, I take my sweet time with making decisions about what to add to my collection. Not with this bag.
I saw this bag and I thought I could use it for my short trips out of home uptown as well as night out to the theater or dinner. It was an ‘easy’ bag to carry around. It seemed to fit enough things I would need. The price point was right, so I pulled the trigger. Here is my review.
This blog post is all about my review of the Gaia Bag from Mansur Gavriel. I hope you find this helpful.
THE STYLE
This bag, like most Mansur Gavriel bags, has a minimalist look. It is a shoulder bag with a thin strap that fits on the shoulder and comfortably tucks in. Fits all essentials: wallet, keys, phone, lip products & more.
QUALITY
This bag is made with Spazzolato leather. This type of leather is heavily polished, waxed and coated. It has a glossy finish and it is very durable.
It comes with a thin strap. The zipper is sturdy and feels nice to open & close. It is as I would expect Mansur Gavriel bags to be.
COLOR AND INTERIOR
I bought the bag in black, it has a contrasting red interior, this is their first and iconic combination ever created for the bucket bag. It’s called Black / Flamma (hinting at the red interior).
Colors available as I write this: Brown, Claret (burgandy red), Zucchero, Crema (off white). They all (for the most part) have a contrasting interior.

SIZE
Width: 9.5 in / 24 cm
Height: 5.5 in / 14 cm
Depth: 1.5 in / 4 cm
Strap drop: 10.2 in / 26 cm
PRICE
This bag is priced at $445. It’s a good price point (of course this is relative), but this is a mid-range brand and you can buy this bag and use it without worrying too much about signs of wear.
GREAT DUPE
It’s a great style, but also a dupe for smaller size bags like The Row 90’s bag (though that’s not a shoulder bag). So I thought initially when I purchased this bag.
THE ONLY CON
After I used this bag for a bit, I realized how much I didn’t want to own treated leather bags. I think The Row has ruined me for life. I enjoy feeling the leather, without that extra layer of coating. I truly would have kept this bag and used it for my outings if it was made out of a different type of leather.
Overall, despite my issue with coated and treated leather, I think this bag is well made and of great quality for its price point and design. It is extremely durable and perfect for a night out or short trip.
